enLARGE is a new 200kb software application for the Palm OS handheld device designed for use in conjunction with the traditional black & white or colour darkroom enlarger. It lets you instantly and accurately compute the exposure time needed for an enlargement of any size - from a given negative and within the range of 1 to 20 magnifications - once the exposure time is known for an enlargement of any one size within this range.
Typically the best way to take advantage of this functionality is to first make a small perfect enlargement - eg the size of a credit card or wallet print - and to then use enLARGE to compute the exposure time needed to produce any larger enlargement or enlargements to 20X. In this way you save time, paper and chemistry by eliminating the waste normally incurred by the making of larger test strips, test prints and failed enlargement re-dos normally made at final enlargement size. enLARGE also lets you easily make a variety of differently sized matching prints, and because the appearance of the first or smaller print is reproduced so perfectly in the larger enlargement, it gives you a new level of control over the latter's appearance, thus helping you to print it better.
enLARGE also provides a seperate exposure time which compensates for print dry down; handles dodge & burn exposures; handles split exposures; and enables you to change lenses - thus from an enlarging lens of one focal length to one of another - mid-print without having to retest the print. enLARGE works with any enlarger and any enlarging lens to focal length 999mm, and runs on any Palm OS handheld device running under Palm OS 3.0 and later.

enLARGE is easy to use. To determine the new exposure time for a differently sized enlargement made from the same negative, simply measure the print’s new negative-to-print distance using a tape measure, and enter this distance into enLARGE’s workscreen. enLARGE now displays the new exposure time for the new, differently sized print!
A wallet pilot enlargement and a perfectly matching 15” enlargement made using enLARGE. enLARGE lets you instantly and accurately compute the exposure time for an enlargement of any size, in the range of 1 to 20 magnifications, once the exposure time is known for a print of any one size within this range.
